False Gods has nothing to do with the religious right-wing. Nor do we have much in common with team jersey-wearing face painters. But we do care about sports – much more than we should. Sports won’t change the world – we know that. What we don’t know is who will win. That’s why we’re so passionate about sports. In a world where entertainment has become predictable and scripted, sporting events provide the real drama.

The world stage is chock full of villains and heroes that we can champion or vilify. Efforts to stop tyrants, hunger and environmental damage are commendable and worth far more attention than the box scores. But we love our sports. More than we should.
